Florentine, the grab and go café of Grand Hyatt Manila, introduces a new addition to its line-up of specialty coffees for coffee connoisseurs. Together with master coffee artisans Henry & Sons, the luxury hotel brings to the Filipino palate the “Port of Mokha” a rare variety which symbolizes the heroic efforts of Moktahr Alkhanshali and his struggles to introduce this to the world, even if it meant going through war torn Yemen.

Growing up between Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Yemen, Moktahr’s lineage contains generations of coffee farmers which he set out to explore in 2013.

Port of Mokha is a reflection of his efforts to save this art in danger of being slowly forgotten.

Critically-acclaimed, with a story full of passion and adventure, each sip of this brew will truly be a pleasure to the palate.

“We seek to always bring different and rare experiences to our guests, and we are pleased to find a partner in that with Henry & Sons. We hope to continue to introduce more items to the Filipino palate through our seven restaurant concepts,” says Gottfried Bogensperger, General Manager and Area Vice-President of Grand Hyatt Manila.

Florentine gives the celebrated brew a sweet twist by adding to its selection of decadent cakes. Introducing the “Mokha Hazelnut Cake”, this delicate yet rich cake is composed of layers of chocolate cremeux with a hint of Mokha, hazelnut dacquoise, and a hazelnut sponge base soaked in Baileys and Mokha coffee. This confection is topped with a sheet of dark chocolate and sprinkled with chocolate coffee beans and roasted hazelnuts. Available at Florentine from August – October, for PHP 1,500 net for a whole cake and PHP 225 net per slice.
