It was my first time at the Shangri-La at The Fort and what instantly caught my eye are the interiors. While the other branches of Shangri-La have the traditional, red and orange, classic elegant interiors, the Shangri-La at The Fort has muted colors, quite minimilastic and has a young vibe to it, probably because it is surrounded by the BGC community, where millenials are working or residing.
Just after a few steps from the lobby, the BAKE HOUSE MANILA is already visible. Seducing me with the aroma of coffee and newly baked bread. Gave in to the call and now, let’s get to my F.A.B. review!
(F)OOD:
They offer delicious sweet and savory cakes, breads, pastries, cookies and delicious coffee. A grab-and-go and sit-in cafe that gives value to the combined package: a great experience, great food and great service.
Bake House Manila is a purpose-driven restaurant that is serving a neighborhood purpose by going towards a zero-waste environment for one, by using minimal packaging.
COOKIES, BREADS AND PASTRIES
Almond Croissant â €
The croissant was baked perfectly and that thin slices of almond added the crunch to this tasty pastry. A simple yet
Sausage Roll â €
I am more of a savory pastry lover and I love this pasty! The sausage was a little spicy which added character to this dish. I would love to reorder this again!
Apple Turnover â €
Love this sweet pastry! I am not a fan of fruits but I love the taste and the texture that the tidbits of apple inside bring to this pastry!
Conscious Cookies â €
The popular cookie which doesn’t have a specific recipe, they are just made from scraps they have left on the kitchen, “ingredients that didn’t make the measuring cup”. I super love the concept of the cookie though I find the cookie a little too hard for my liking but nothing that a lovely cup of coffee could not fix,
Tomato and Onion Quicheâ €
A light and savory pastry that’s one level up there! You get the hint of freshness of the tomato and the sweetness that the onion adds.
Pancetta Quicheâ €
The richness of the custard in the quiche was cut by the saltiness of the pancetta. It is also an eye-catcher with that criss-crossed pancetta that you instantly wanna pluck out!
Ube Macapunoâ €
This is one of their bestsellers and this pastry did not disappoint. The rich ube is combined with a sweet macapuno giving you that instant dessert flavors.
It is great to note that all of their offerings are natural, trans-fat free! Bake House Manila also adapts a very approachable pricing scheme by addressing a gap of a high-class lounge with five-star service and high-quality but affordable food. Where can you find an egg tart in a hotel that is only worth Php 45! This proves one of their advocacies that food doesn’t have to be expensive for it to be good.
COFFEE
Iced Mocha
They also offer other coffee that are provided by Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters.
(A)MBIENCE:
On the store facade, you will be greeted by a cool bamboo bike and a lot of potted greeneries and flowers. Inviting you to take a ride with them and take the eco-friendly route.
Upon entering, you will be greeted by the well lighted displays of the baked goodies totally inviting you to try them at once.
There are baking materials used as wall decorations which is an indication that you have gone to a great place to get your baked goodies.
The place is adorned with tourquiose and orange seats that spell out youth and the color is very much in today. The walls are also splashed with accent lightings that give out classy vibes.
Their merchandise are also on display and are also eye-catching.
A small high-chaired community table with a granite countertop where different baking and cooking ingredients are displayed. There were also some books, probably recipe books and cute greeneries just giving life to this cute, instagrammable nook.(B)UTLER SERVICE:
We had no problems with the service. All of our requests and food were provided on time.
